Manual Therapy Boot Camp
Manual Therapy Boot Camp is a one day course designed to enhance practitioners clinical reasoning, evaluation techniques, and manual therapy skills. This course will focus on the axial skeleton. Physical therapists will have an introduction to spinal manipulation (where legally permitted. Current research is discussed supporting the effectiveness of orthopedic manual physical therapy on orthopedic conditions. Over 80% of class time is dedicated to hands-on lab time to help practitioners become more proficient with manual therapy techniques. This course is designed to help new clinicians learn new skills and techniques, and help experienced clinicians refine and advance their manual therapy skills. To provide the most feedback instructor to practitioner ratio is a max of 1:10. This class is limited to 20 participants.

Objectives
Perform a thorough screening prior to performing manual therapy techniques using specific subjective questioning and objective examination
Understand the benefits and limitations of using manual therapy techniques in treating conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine
Use best current evidence and clinical reasoning to help guide patient care in treating patients with spinal conditions
Demonstrate proper manual therapy techniques for the treatment of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine
Incorporate therapeutic exercise and motor control exercises following manual therapy techniques into a specific treatment plan
Understand the importance of a regional interdependence approach when treating patient with neuromusculoskeletal pain, and the neuromuscular effects of manual therapy
Utilize clinical reasoning skills in the selection of specific manual therapy techniques for a variety of neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions

1:30-2:45 Thoracic spine and rib manual therapy lab
2:45-3:00 Question and Answer
3:00-4:00 Lumbar spine manual therapy lab
4:00-4:30 Lab – Round Robin
4:30-5:00pm Exercise and motor control lab
