The overhead athlete is a subsect of individuals that when trained and treated effectively, can return to his or her sport at higher than previously achieved levels. If professionals treat this individuals the same way we treat our standard populous, results can be detrimental to performance and injury risk. This course will cover basic and advanced assessment and corrective exercise prescription for the overhead athlete as well as conceptual considerations when evaluating the overhead athlete. The course will be able to integrate regional interdependency while treating and training the overhead athlete and be able to communicate plan with the athlete in an effective way.
Objective: At the end of this course, you will be able to:
Know the needs and requirements of an overhead athlete’s performance and movement versus standard population needs
Assess static positioning of the overhead athlete
Assess dynamic movement specific to the overhead athlete
Treatment of the overhead athlete with exercise science and manual therapy
Learn and integrate core training to affect the upper quarter of the overhead athlete
Post Operative considerations into rehabilitation
